Materials Needed:

  • Colored paper or cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Glue stick
  • Hole puncher
  • String or ribbon

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

Before you begin making your paper star lantern, make sure you have all the necessary materials. You will need colored paper or cardstock in various colors, scissors, a pencil, a ruler, a glue stick, a hole puncher, and some string or ribbon for hanging.

Step 2: Cut Your Paper

Using the ruler and pencil, measure and mark the dimensions for your star lantern. You will need 5 identical star-shaped pieces. Once you have marked the dimensions, carefully cut out the star shapes using scissors.

Step 3: Fold and Glue

Take one of the star-shaped pieces and fold along the lines to create a 3D star shape. Apply glue to the flaps and press them together to secure the shape. Repeat this step for the remaining star-shaped pieces.

Step 4: Punch Holes

Using the hole puncher, make a hole near one of the points of each star. These holes will be used to hang the lantern.

Step 5: Assemble the Lantern

Thread a piece of string or ribbon through the holes of each star and tie them together at the top, leaving enough length to hang the lantern.

Step 6: Decorate

You can further decorate your paper star lantern by adding glitter, sequins, or other embellishments. Get creative and make it unique!

Step 7: Hang and Enjoy

Find a suitable place to hang your paper star lantern and enjoy the festive glow it brings to your Diwali decorations!
